The Governing Council and Management team, Lagos State University of Education led by the Pro Chancellor / Chairman Governing Council Alhaja Sekinat Yusuf and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye on Wednesday 27th September, 2023 visited Epe Campus of the University on facilities tour.

The Pro Chancellor/Chairman, LASUED Governing Council, Alhaja Sekinat Yusuf while delivering her welcome address in the Administrative Building, Epe Campus said it is necessary to be physically on the campus in to see facilities on ground and appraise them in order to present them to the government and seek assistance for the institution where it is needed.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye in her remarks stated that Management has written to the government to help provide comprehensive landscaping and intervention on fencing as part of the capital projects on the campus and help tackle other challenges facing the institution. She then tasked Works and Service Department, Epe Campus to ensure that sanity is maintained on the campus at all times.

Projects that were visited include the he Second Exit Gate, College of Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education [COVED] Block, ongoing 2014 State project of 450,000 sitting capacity hall, ongoing 250 seater lecture hall, Home Management Residence, Parabolic Dryer, One Storey Block of Male and Female Students’ Hostels, Campus Mini Football Field and renovated project by 2015/2017/2019 TETFUND Project Maintenance Intervention.

During the course of the tour was the award of full scholarship given to a male English Language degree undergraduate student, Michael Taoreed by the ever magnanimous Vice Chancellor, Professor. Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye having sighted him working as a labourer in one of the ongoing projects on the campus. According to the young man, his parents inability to cater for his tuition fees and his zeal to be educated were reasons he opted to work as labourer in order to relief his parents from financial burden.
