In her opening remarks, Prof. Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye specially appreciated members of Management team for their unwavering support. She also appreciated Deans of Colleges, HODs and all other staff of the university present.

She said the purpose of the inauguration is to instill University culture in the institution since it has been transmuted from College of Education to a university status. “We need to move from the toga of College of Education to the toga of University” she added.

Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye emphasized that Academic Board meetings are not avenue to agitates and should not be made an ‘Alutaristic’ ground. Academic Meetings she maintained should serve the primary objective of discussing Academic matter while airing of concerns or agitations by any teaching staff should be made at the Congress.
Also, the Vice Chancellor stated that mulching and flying internal memo is against the norms of the university and in a situation where a staff won’t be available for a meeting, such staff should notify their Dean by mails and phone calls.

Additionally, She enjoined members of staff to cultivate the habit of discipline among themselves at all time because it’s part of corrections. “Don’t shy away from discipline, discipline is part of corrections” she said.

Lastly, she stated that the Management team will continue to support and protect the interest of its staff but staffers of the university should also endeavour to contribute their quotas towards the success of the university as well be of good conduct always as character is one of the major determinants of staff promotion.

The three tiers of the inaugurated Boards are:
College Academic Board
College Board of Examiners and;
College Board of Studies.

Acting Deans of the Colleges in their remarks gladly appreciated the Vice Chancellor and her team for the inaugural meetings. Tagged her as catalyst of positive change and commended Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye on the laudable progress and achievements made in the university under her leadership. They also wished her and members of Management team journey mercies to their respective bases.
