BIOGRAPHY

Foluso Adedoyin Agoi (usual name: Folu Agoi), holds an MPhil (English Language, Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, 2023), MA (English Language, University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, 2000), M.Ed. (Educational Management, Ondo State University, now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, 1998), B.Ed. (English, Ondo State University, 1995), and an NCE (English/Christian Religious Studies, Lagos State College of Education, Oto/Ijanikin, 1986). A lecturer at the Department of English Education, College of Languages and Communication Arts Education, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Lagos, his areas of research include: Stylistics, Sociolinguistics and Language education. 

He is also a poet, winner of BBC Poetry Competition (2001) and Southwest Association of Nigerian Authors (SWANA) 2020 Poetry Competition (2020), recipient of Prof Wole Soyinka Award for Literature (2007), Diamond Award for Excellence presented by Double Diamond Global Empowerment Initiative (2023) and several other awards. Currently, President of Nigerian Centre of PEN International (aka PEN Nigeria), erstwhile Chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Lagos Chapter (2004 – 2007), he has attended conferences – and performed his poetry – in several cities in Africa, Europe, America and Asia. Besides his published books, which include I Know the Smell of My Lover’s Skin – A Spring of Lyrics Powered by Love (poetry, 2017), Service to Fatherland (poetry, 2013), More Candid Lyrics – Another Anthology of Lyrical Poetry (2001), Candid Lyrics – An Anthology of Lyrical Poetry (2000), and Towards Effective Use of English – A Grammar of Modern English (1999), he has edited and co-edited several books, including An Offering of Olive – An Anthology of Peace Literature (2004), Silver Lining – An Anthology of Nigerian Literature (Poems, Short Stories, Drama & Critical Essays, co-edited with Prof Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo, 2019) and Of Shadows and Rainbows Musings in Times of Covid – An Anthology of Poems, Plays, Short Stories and Essays (co-edited with Prof Olu Obafemi, 2022). Many of his scholarly articles have appeared in reputable local and international journals.
