Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified Candidates for the position of Chief Security Officer, Lagos State University of Education, Oto-Ijanikin, with a Campus at Odo-Noforija, Epe.
1.0 JOB DESCRIPTION
Such a person that will hold the position of Chief Security Officer must be able to effectively coordinate the Security Architecture of a University, particularly one which has a dual Campus Structure.
The undermentioned responsibilities are also included:
2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Handle security matters in a student environment
2. Recommend on the recruitment of security officers and the discipline of erring Officers
3. Supervise and manage security personnel of the University
4. Liaise with security agencies and law enforcement bodies for the protection of lives and properties on both Campuses of the University
5. Coordinate security personnel of the University on intelligence gathering within outside the premises of the University Campuses
6. Engage with the security guards and personnel of host communities towards the security of the University
7. Formulate security policies for the consideration of the University Management
8. Ensure that adequate security measures are in place to mitigate against threats to the security of members of the University Community
9. Formulate and implement ideas for the development and enhancement of the University’s security architecture.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
1. A good Honours degree, in the Humanities or Social Sciences, not below Second Class Lower Division from a reputable university OR A Higher National Diploma (HND), in any discipline relating to the Humanities or Social Sciences, not below the grade of Lower Credit from a reputable Institution
2. A Master’s degree in any of the aforementioned disciplines will be an added advantage.
3. Ten (10) years cognate experience, out of which Three (3) would be on the grade of Assistant Chief Security Officer.
4. An Ex-serviceman not below the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or its equivalent in the Armed Forces
5. Applicable soft skills e.g. communication, teamwork, leadership, and intelligence gathering
6. Unblemished character and must be of high moral standard, including being a person of high integrity and ethical conduct.
7. Knowledge of ICT and evidence of use is required
4.0 REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The occupant of the position of Chief Security Officer shall earn a salary on
Consolidated University Non-Academic Salary Structure 14 (CONUNASS 14) as well as other benefits as contained in the University Conditions of Service guiding
the Senior Staff
