Federation of Africa University Sports [FASU] And Nigerian University Games Association [NUGA] Delegates Tour University Sport Facilities As LASUED Seeks To Host 2024 FASU Championship Games

On Wednesday 12th June 2024, the University Management led by the ardent sports loving Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye welcomed joint delegates led by Dr. Bawa Muhammed from Federation of Africa University Sports [FASU] and Nigerian University Games Association [NUGA] in the Multimedia Complex Room of the Vice Chancellor’s Office.

The purpose of the visit was to pay homage to the history making LASUED’s Vice Chancellor being the first Substantive female Vice Chancellor to be from the Department of Physical and Health Education profession as well explore possible means on how the University can host Championship competitions in some sports for FASU this 2024.

While addressing the powerful delegates from the sports regulatory bodies, Prof. Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye noted that as a sports enthusiast, Management under her administration is committed to encourage staff and students to embrace sports and also lay a strong foundation for the coming leadership of the University to thrive in all areas.

Also, she reiterated the University’s readiness to be involved and participate in the upcoming 11th edition of the 2024 All Africa Games to commence on 20th September and end on 29th September 2024.

However, the visiting unanimously agreed to consider LASUED as host for some sports in the 2024 All Africa University Championship Games.

Other dignitaries present in the meeting are; the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Dr. M.A. DAODU, the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin), Dr. M.A. SHITTU, the Bursar, Mr. Adeniyi Ganiu AJOSE, the University Librarian, Dr. Abayomi IMAM, the Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Omolara SAMI who represented the Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa. While the visiting delegates include: Dr. Mike Akibu A., Mr. Yunusa M. Bazza, Ms. Chidiebere Ezeani, Prof. M.G. Yakasai, Mr. Suraj Akorede Lawal, Mr. Boladale Orodele and two others.
