HOD's Welcome Address
Welcome to the Department of Music, College of Humanities Education, Lagos State University of Education, Otto/Ijanikin, Lagos. The importance and role of music in our day to day activities is ubiquitous, especially in the lives of Nigerian children who are born and nurtured in music. Music serves social, political, historical, economic, religious, communicative and moral functions in a society. Therefore, the study of music in Department of Music in the College of Humanities Education, like ours is indispensable for the development of the Nigerian child, society and the entire nation. It is meant to provide music teachers and also skilled musicians as well as musicologists with expertise in various musical activities.
The department is a full fledged department of music and runs both B.A. Ed and B.A degree in Music respectively. Courses offered include theoretical studies in African and Western European Music, Aural/Ear and Musicianship, in addition to training in several musical instruments such as voice, Saxophone, Guitar among others to students.
Welcome you once more into our unique department, college and university as a whole. I hereby urge you to be well behaved, more focused on your various courses. You must be diligent in your studies and shun all anti-social behaviours that can deter you from attaining your desired academic goals in the University. May God crown all your efforts with success as you journey through Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Oto/Ijanikin with a campus at Epe.

BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC LASUED
The Music Department is as old as the history of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education one of the two Colleges of Education that metamorphosed into Lagos State University of Education. The department started as a unit under the department of Creative Arts and later was upgraded into a full-fledged department. Ever since then, the department has had many heads of department; Mr. Denton, M.O, Mr. Harrison Kweku, Colonel Olubobokun, Mr. L.K. Johnson, Dr. Olusoji Stephen, Dr. Okunade AdeOluwa, Late Mr. Oyeniyi, G.O, Dr (Mrs) Loko, O.O, Mr Ogunbona, S.O, and Dr. Babalola, S.O. Other lecturers who contributed to the growth of the department are Dr. Albert Oikhelome, Mr. Fakeye, A.A, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Oyesiku, Mr. Adeyemo, Mr. Popoola, Mr. Ayodele, Mr. Ademola, Mr. Adepoju, A.O,(retired) and Mr. Odunsi, V.O (retired).
The transmutation of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education and Micheal Otedola College of Primary Education into a University in February, 2022 led to having both the staff in the department of Music, Oto/Ijanikin and Cultural and Creative Arts, Epe, becoming staff of Music department of the new Institution, Lagos State University of Education. The department runs both B.A. Ed and B.A degree in Music respectively. The department offers courses in African and Western European Music to her students (Theory and Practical).
Welcome once more to our unique department, college, and university. I urge you to be well-behaved and more focused on your various courses.
