n the spirit of the yuletide season, the Department of Music Education, College of Humanities Education (COHED), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), on Tuesday, 16th December, 2025, hosted its 2025 Annual Christmas Carol Service themed “Christ is Born” at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall, Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus.
In his welcome address, the Head of the Department of Music Education, Dr. Sunday Babalola, warmly welcomed staff, students, and invited guests to the annual Carol Service. According to him, Christmas serves as a reminder for all to reflect love through kindness, compassion, generosity, forgiveness, and genuine fellowship. He encouraged everyone present to keep their hearts open, their spirits joyful, and their minds focused on the true meaning of the season.
Delivering the goodwill message of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Daodu M. A., expressed the Vice-Chancellor’s delight at the successful organization of the Carol Service. She commended the Department of Music Education for sustaining the tradition of using music as a powerful tool to celebrate faith, promote unity, and inspire moral values within the university community. She further encouraged the university community to remain steadfast in excellence, discipline, and mutual respect while wishing all members of LASUED a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.
The event featured melodious renditions of Christmas carols, musical performances, and moments of reflection, which added colour and spiritual depth to the celebration, making it a memorable occasion for all in attendance.
