The Management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, on Friday, 12th December, 2025, received representatives of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) National Alumni Association on a courtesy visit.
Speaking during the meeting held in her office, the Vice-Chancellor commended the visiting alumni for the thoughtful gesture of identifying with the University through their visit and donation of valuable educational and non-educational items. She noted that the act of generosity would further strengthen collaboration and foster greater synergy between the University Management and the National Alumni Association of its legacy institution.
Professor Lafiaji-Okuneye emphasized that although LASUED may not be the direct alma mater of the alumni, its legacy institution, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) played a significant role in shaping their academic and professional journeys. She expressed optimism that the existing cordial relationship between the University Management and the AOCOED Alumni Association would continue to thrive.
In his remarks, the National President of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education National Alumni Association, Dr. Akintolure Oluwashina, stated that the visit was aimed at giving back to their alma mater, AOCOED, which has evolved into the present Lagos State University of Education. He added that the donation was also a demonstration of the alumni’s support for the University Management and its vision.
Also speaking, the Registrar of LASUED, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa Akinlabi; the Bursar, Mr. Ganiu Ajose Adeniyi; and the Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Sami Omolara, lauded the AOCOED National Alumni Association for the notable donation. They collectively described the gesture as a foundation for a mutually beneficial relationship between the University and the alumni body of its legacy college.
Items donated by the alumni include ten laptops, two Public Address Systems (PAS), twelve plastic chairs, and 5,000 pieces of customized nylon for dispensing drugs at the University Health Centre.
It would be recalled that Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Oto/Ijanikin, alongside Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) Epe, was transmuted by the Lagos State Government into the Lagos State University of Education on February 2nd, 2022.
