The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) on Thursday 13th November, 2025 held its 4th Matriculation Ceremony for not fewer than 5,000 newly admitted full-time degree and diploma students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The event, which took place at the iconic Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall on the University’s main campus, Oto/Ijanikin, drew the presence of Principal Officers, staff, students, parents, and other key stakeholders.

Declaring the ceremony open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, described the occasion as a significant milestone, emphasizing that the students were “not merely enrolling in a university, but being woven into the fabric of a story being written in real time.”

Reaffirming LASUED’s commitment to excellence, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the institution has rapidly become a benchmark in the education sector, earning recognition for its adaptability and competitiveness among long-established universities. She also introduced her administration’s A.C.H.I.E.V.E. agenda—Academic Culture, Community Relations, Human Capacity Development, Infrastructural Development, Entrepreneurship, Valuable Research, and Excellence in Professionalism. She placed particular emphasis on entrepreneurship, stressing that LASUED graduates will be defined not by what they seek but by what they create.

Professor Lafiaji-Okuneye urged the matriculating students to uphold moral discipline, avoid indecent dressing, resist negative peer influence, and refrain from spreading misinformation that could hinder their academic journey. She further encouraged them to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to support their studies.

She also highlighted some of the university’s growing international collaborations with institutions such as Penn State University in the United States (USA), the University of Education in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and most recently, the African Historical Society (AHS), among others.

Reassuring the students of a stable academic calendar and a conducive learning environment, the Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance policy on misconduct.

The ceremony also featured the commissioning of new digital gadgets by the Vice-Chancellor before it concluded with closing remarks.
