LASUED Management Hosts Al-Meenat Women Organization

The Management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, on Thursday, 2nd October, 2025, received a delegation from the Al-Meenat Women Organization on a courtesy visit in the Multimedia Complex Room of the Vice Chancellor’s office.


In her welcome address, the Vice Chancellor,  gave a brief historical background of the university, highlighting its transmutation from Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) into LASUED.


She encouraged members of the organization to continue pursuing their careers and not be deterred by their gender, emphasizing that there is no limit to how far they can go in life.


Speaking on the purpose of their visit, the President of the organization, Jelilat Abdul Hamid, shared insights into the mission of Al-Meenat Women Organization, which seeks to empower the girls child and women to achieve their life goals. She noted that the organization operates in 18 states across Nigeria.


She further announced an upcoming conference where women from various walks of life will come together to discuss personal development, career growth, and strategies for moving forward. She solicited support from the Vice Chancellor toward the actualization of the organization’s women development goals.


The delegation also formally invited the Vice Chancellor to grace their 30th Anniversary Celebration, scheduled for November 1st, 2025, where she is expected to deliver a motivational and inspiring speech.


Other notable participants at the meeting included the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor M. A. Daodu; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Shittu M.A.; the Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa; the Bursar, Mr. Ganiu Ajose Adeniyi; and the Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Sami Omolara, among others.
