The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Oto/Ijanikin, joined the global community on Monday, October 6, 2025, to celebrate this year’s World Teachers’ Day at the University’s Senate Hall.

With the theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” the event emphasized teamwork, innovation, and shared responsibility as vital tools for transforming Nigeria’s education sector.

In her keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, described the theme as a “powerful call to action” rather than just a slogan.

" Recasting teaching  as a Collaborative  Profession  is a reflection  of the evolving  demands on educators and a recognition  of the synergy  required  to elevate  education  to its rightful  place" she said

“At LASUED, we are steadfast in our mission to produce competent, professional, and ethically sound teachers who will drive the educational revolution our nation needs. Let us commit to building bridges of collaboration among teachers, schools, communities, and policymakers.”

She also encouraged Nigerians to honour teachers’ contributions beyond the day’s celebration, noting that their work is foundational to national growth and progress.

The Guest Speaker, Professor Adewale Gbenga Jeremiah of the University of Ibadan’s Institute of Education, echoed the call for unity among educators. He explained that collaboration enhances creativity, innovation, and job satisfaction, helping teachers better address students’ diverse learning needs.
