LASUED: Directorate of Guidance and Counselling Organizes Three-Day Workshop For Students On Mental Health Awareness

In a bid to prevent students from all forms of mental distress, the Directorate of Guidance, Counselling, and Career Development of the Lagos State University of Education organized a three-day workshop on mental health awareness for all students of the institution.

The workshop, which took place simultaneously at the DDP and ETF Halls, Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus was held from 12th to 14th January, 2026 with the theme centered on relationships, breakups, emotional pain, identity, self-esteem, and the pressure of figuring out life, the programme aimed at equipping students with practical coping strategies and promoting emotional well-being. Participants were guided on how to manage emotional challenges, build healthy relationships, and develop a positive sense of self amidst societal and personal pressures.

The workshop featured seasoned facilitators, including Prof. Asikhia Olubusayo Prof. Elegbede Christy, Dr. Adeotun Kikelomo, Mr. Abidogun, and Mrs. Ogungbemile O., who delivered insightful and impactful sessions. 

Their presentations encouraged open discussions and helped students better understand mental health issues and the importance of seeking support when needed.

Overall, the programme was highly engaging and beneficial, reinforcing the university’s commitment to the holistic development and well-being of its students.
