Lagos State University of Education on Thursday 27th November, 2025 received the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Wealth Creation and Employment, Ambassador Tijani Saheed Oluwadare, and his team at the Multimedia Complex of the Vice-Chancellor's Office during a proposed collaboration visit.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Shittu Morufudeen Adeniyi, warmly welcomed the delegation. He provided a brief overview of the institution’s transformation from a College to a full-fledged University on February 2nd, 2022, highlighting the remarkable academic progress achieved since then. Notably, he emphasized the university's 100 percent success rate in the recent accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Professor Shittu affirmed LASUED’s readiness to partner with the Ministry for the benefit of its growing student population. “You have come to the right place because our Vice-Chancellor is deeply passionate about students’ entrepreneurship. We want our students to be self-reliant after their time here rather than depending solely on white-collar jobs. Our students are well-groomed in entrepreneurial skills, and we believe this collaboration will further strengthen their capacity,” he stated.

He assured the delegation that management would give due consideration to all proposals discussed during the meeting.

In his remarks, Ambassador Tijani Saheed Oluwadare commended the LASUED Management for the visible developmental strides under the leadership of Professor Lafiaji-Okuneye, describing her as a progressive and visionary leader. He explained that the visit aimed to explore collaborative avenues that will benefit young people, particularly LASUED students. According to him, the Ministry intends to harmonize wealth-creation initiatives across Lagos State universities to encourage students to embrace self-sustaining business opportunities through internship programmes during and after their studies, rather than relying solely on white-collar jobs. He added that LASUED, being a teacher-training institution, has been earmarked for special job creation initiatives.

Ambassador Oluwadare further revealed the Ministry’s intention to establish a Job Creation Centre within the university as part of its broader plan to set up such centres across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks delivered by the Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Sami Omolara, who represented the Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa.
