In a bold move to acclimatize newly admitted students to the university environment, the Management, Lagos State University of Education on Tuesday 25th November, 2025 organized an orientation programme for its 100-level undergraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session at the crowd-pleasing Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall, Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University of Education, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor [Academics], Professor Daodu Morufu Adedayo speaking at the programme noted that the essence of the orientation is to enable the newly admitted students to get familiar with the university by providing them with adequate information which will put them on their toes throughout their studentship journey at LASUED. He also encouraged the new intakes to embrace the blended teaching method which involves the classroom and online or virtual teachings through the use of modern teaching technology put in place by the university’s management.
In addition, Prof. Daodu M.A. enjoined the students to be attentive as the programme unfolds, as this will be key to helping them gain valuable knowledge and information at the orientation programme, he concluded.
Similarly, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor [Administration], Professor Shittu Morufudeen Adeniyi gave an in-depth information on the various geographical locations surrounding LASUED. He underscores the necessity of establishing and maintaining good relationships between the students and external security agencies including the Police force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency [NDLEA], Custom Officers as well as monarchs of the university’s host communities, HRM, Oba [Elder] Aina Josiah Ilemobade Olanrewaju Kuyamiku 1. Oloto of Oto-Awori Kingdom and HRM, Oba Momodu Afolabi Ashafa. The Aladi Onijanikin of Ijanikin Kingdom respectively, using the town and gown relationship analysis to buttress his remarks.
However, he advised the students to visit the Students' Affairs Office whenever they are confronted with challenges for prompt assistance.
Subsequently, the Acting Dean of Students' Affairs, LASUED, Dr Dawodu Rasheed Adegbenro enjoined the students to be focused, disciplined and effective management of their responsibilities. "You must manage your time wisely, respect constituted authorities including our host communities, shun drug abuse and avoid joining unauthorized associations or secret cults/clubs within or outside the campus as such actions can tarnish your family's reputation and bring the image of the university into disrepute", added.
Other dignitaries present at the orientation programme include the University Bursar, Mr Ganiu Ajose; representative of the University Librarian, Mrs Oluwole; representative of the Director of ICT, Deputy Director Mr Samuel Fadipe; representative of the Director, University Health Centre, Mrs Tunwase; the Chief Security Officer, Mr Tosin Ogundipe; representative of the Director, Directorate of Sports, Mr Babajide Temidayo Ajayi; Deans of Colleges; Directors of Directorates, among others.
