1.0 THE SCHOOLS

  1. The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Staff School at the Epe Campus of the University commenced operations on September 22, 2008. The School has a staff strength of 17 Teaching Staff and 5 Non-Teaching Staff, with a current enrolment of 202 pupils. The vision of the School is to be a foremost institution that produces excellent, well-rounded pupils, equipped with quality, first-class education.

  2. The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Staff School at the Main Campus (Oto/Ijanikin) of the University was established on October 22, 1992. The School has a rich history and has produced notable alumni spread across the country. The vision of the School is to be a strategic model school that produces future leaders in all areas of life.

Applications are hereby requested from suitably qualified Candidates for the position of Head Teacher at EACH of the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Staff Schools, situated at the Oto/Ijanikin and Epe Campuses of the University.

  1. JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Head Teacher shall assume overall responsibility for the School, overseeing all matters and operations, and shall also serve as its Manager.

    He/She shall further serve as the Administrative and Academic Head of the School and shall be responsible, through the Governing Board, to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day running and management of the School.

    The specific responsibilities of the Head Teacher for each of the Schools include, but are not limited to, the following:

  2. RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Coordinating and managing all operations of the School;

    2. Working closely with the Principal of LASUED International School on the Campus to foster operational synergy

    3. Supervising all teaching and non-teaching staff for maximum productivity;

    4. Ensuring that the School’s practices and activities are geared towards its development and in line with applicable global best practices;

    5. Recommending developmental policies to the School’s Governing Board and overseeing their implementation upon approval;

    6. Steering the School towards achieving its stated vision and mission;

    7. Fostering good character and ethical standards among staff and students;

    8. Maintaining the stability of the school’s academic calendar and ensuring that sessional objectives are achieved;

    9. Engaging with relevant stakeholders and the Parents’ Forum for the overall development of the School;

    10. Cultivating productive relationships with relevant bodies, associations, and agencies to enhance the school’s growth; and,

    11. Any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Governing Board and the Vice Chancellor.


  3. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

    The Prospective Appointees must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

    1. A good honours degree in Education-related discipline, not below Second-Class Honours Lower Division, from a reputable University. A Master’s degree in any Education-related discipline will be an added advantage;

    2. Membership of relevant professional bodies and associations;

    3. Membership of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN);

    4. Demonstrable capacity to manage and lead people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives;

    5. Evidence of sound/optimum physical and mental health;

    6. At least five (5) years post-qualification cognate experience;

    7. Applicable soft skills, e.g. communication, teamwork, and leadership;

    8. An unblemished character with high moral standards, integrity and ethical conduct; and,

    9. Proficiency in ICT with evidence of practical application in a School System.


  4. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

    This shall be in line with what obtains in the Conditions of Service of the LASUED Staff School, or as may be approved and reviewed by the Governing Board of the School or the Governing Council of the University from time to time.

  5. TENURE OF OFFICE

    Prospective Appointees shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years.

  6. METHOD OF APPLICATION

Applicants for the positions are required to submit Twenty (20) Copies each of their Application, Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Credentials to the Office of the Registrar, Lagos State University of Education, Oto/Ijanikin, Lagos, on or before, Tuesday, 30th September, 2025.
