The effective management of Lagos State University of Education, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, hosted their counterparts from the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe, on a courtesy visit at the Multimedia Complex Room of the Vice-Chancellor's Office on Thursday 7th May, 2026.
The discussion between the two parties focused on a proposed collaborative effort and consultation initiated by FUSTECH management, as a pioneering leadership of the university in its vision to advance the recently established university.
In her remarks, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye warmly welcomed the visitors and provided a brief history of the university’s transformation from a college to a university. She noted that LASUED is now an institution where every candidate wants to study due to the credible work done by the management so far. "Our admission status is now increasing because people are now believing in us as a university," she added, while acknowledging strong support from the Lagos State Government.
Furthermore, she encouraged the visiting team, as pioneering Principal Officers, to be prepared to make sacrifices, serve with sustained energy, and work closely with their Governing Council.
While assuring them of areas for collaboration, including staffing and facilities, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye emphasized that collaboration is vital for a university's growth. She stressed the need for FUSTECH management to establish their university’s anthem and slogan for upcoming tasks and to carry their souvenirs everywhere they go, as this will enhance their PR efforts.
In what appears to be major news for guardians and candidates seeking admission to LASUED, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the JAMB cut-off mark for this academic year's admission into the university is set at 185.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor and leader of the visitors from FUSTECH, Professor Kazeem A. Oshokoya, commended the LASUED management team for their inspiring transformation journey. He noted that their courtesy visit is driven by the desire to exchange ideas with an established institution like LASUED. "We find it necessary to visit LASUED to establish a symbiotic relationship and seek support in the areas of staff relations, use of facilities, and resources assessment," he stated.
Other LASUED Principal Officers present at the meeting included Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and Administration) Professor Daodu Morufu Adedayo and Professor Shittu Morufudeen Adeniyi; Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa Akinlabi; Bursar, Mr. Ganiu Ajose Adeniyi; and University Librarian, Professor Imam Abayomi. The Deputy Registrar in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Sami Omolara, and Principal Assistant Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Soares Olumiyiwa, also attended.
